Gastro dny 2020

Welcome Message

Dear Friends, Dear Colleagues,

I am extremely honored to announce that the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) appointed the Czech Society of Gastroenterology to host its biyearly international conference, Gastro 2020, in Prague, Czech Republic.

As an event organized jointly by WGO and the Czech Society of Gastroenterology together with the Czech Society of Hepatology, Czech Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology, and Czech Society of Surgery, Gastro 2020, is to be held in 3–5 December 2020.

We are definitely honored by this decision and consider it an exceptional challenge to help to accomplish the mission of WGO and take this opportunity to exchange the thoughts, experience, comments and information on all current major issues of gastroenterology and hepatology with respect to region-specific socioeconomic background as well as cultural and historical aspects.

As you may know, Prague is a city with a unique potential to host such top international events.

The congress is to be held in a brand-new spacious and multi-functional congress venue. Prague is easily accessible to visitors coming both from nearby and distant destinations, it prides itself a well-organized and efficient city transport system and a sufficient number of hotels of all categories. Last but not least, Prague has the reputation of a most attractive, friendly and safe city for tourists from all over the world.

Welcome at the GASTRO 2020 PRAGUE Website!

Message from Co-Presidents

Dear Colleagues,

The profound changes as a consequence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection have impacted all of us but in different ways; nevertheless, the latest developments have forced us to become aware of how fragile, global and complicated our modern world is, and how difficult it is to predict the future. Our thoughts at this stage are with affected patients and healthcare staff.

At this point in time, the Czech Society of Gastroenterology (CSG) and World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) are closely monitoring the developments. In this context, some signs of regression of the pandemic have appeared in recent days. We can only hope that the community of our beloved specialty can return to our normal life and activities in the not-too-distant future.

With this hope, we are continuing to prepare for the GASTRO 2020 meeting in Prague scheduled for 3–5 December 2020 and jointly sponsored by the WGO and CSG. An overwhelming majority of international speakers have accepted our invitation, and we will soon provide you with a pre-final version of the scientific program.

We hope that all of you coming from various parts of the world are in good health and that together we will celebrate at GASTRO 2020 in Prague this December the recovery from the epidemic, and a comeback to our pre-epidemic professional standards.

With our best regards
